Vibe Caravan

This Vibe Caravan bike rack carries four bikes on the drawbar of an off road Vibe, mounted on an Adjustable H-Mount with a StrongArm Support Post below it.

The front of this van is busy. There is a full width checker plate toolbox, twin gas bottles and a stone guard, all competing for the same drawbar. The Adjustable H-Mount is what makes it work. The height and the angle are set so the assembly clears the toolbox lid and the bottle tops, and so bikes load and unload without anyone reaching over the gas.

The Four Bike Rack Assembly is rated to 84kg with 32kg allowed per bike. Carrying that weight forward of the axles rather than off the rear bumper is the whole point of a drawbar build. Roughly 70 percent of the load sits on the tow ball and 30 percent on the axles, which keeps the van tracking straight and stops four bikes acting like a pendulum behind the axle group.

The StrongArm Support Post takes the load down into the drawbar so nothing is left hanging on the mount, and the whole assembly pivots up loaded, without tools. The toolbox lid, the gas bottles and the hitch all stay reachable with the bikes still on.
