Jayco Expanda

This Isuzu MU-X bike rack exists because of log trucks and spud trucks. Adam’s family lives in the countryside with young kids, and the only road out of their little track is a busy one. An Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly with mounts for the MU-X, the family D-Max and their Jayco Expanda means the bikes simply go wherever the safe riding is, and in Adam’s words, that option has really expanded the kids’ cycling experience.

That is the quiet job a good bike carrier does: it turns cycling from something that happens where you live into something that happens where you choose. The Four Bike Carrier holds each bike upright in its own wheel support cradles, held by a frame support cradle, rated at 32kg per bike and 84kg total on the 700mm beam, with the whole family’s fleet from kids’ bikes to adult mountain bikes carried without contact between them. On the Expanda the same carrier moves to the drawbar for holidays, splitting the load roughly 70% to the ball and 30% to the axle and pivoting upright with the bikes still on. Between the MU-X, the D-Max and the camper, one carrier covers every trip the family takes.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty. The pre-configured vehicle carriers cover the Isuzu pair, and the caravan bike racks handle the Expanda side.
