Bicycle carriers to suit vehicles only are purchased through the shop page of the website.  The vehicle application guide can be used to help identify the ideal combination of modular parts. Or use the contact page and let us configure for you!

For Caravan (and vehicle) purchases, submit an enquiry through the contact page. Our sales specialists and sales engineers will configure the ideal modular components to suit both vehicle and caravan.

The iSi Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier combined mass is 10.9kg. The iSi Extreme Duty Four Bicycle Carrier combined mass is 25.5kg.

In a drawbar mounted application the following weight considerations apply.

When adding in the mass of the drawbar mount components, the total mass of the 2 bike carrier is just under 28kg, and the 4 bike carrier is just under 38kg.

As a basic guideline to determining the effect on tow ball mass; The centre of mass of the loaded carrier is a fair way back from the tow point so the effective weight of the bikes and carrier on the tow point is less than the total mass. In other words, as the centre of mass moves back from the tow point, a greater proportion of the mass is support by the axle and not the tow point.

Typically it’s a 70/30 split which means if you have a total 100kg of weight, (including the bikes), 70kg is on the tow ball, and 30kg cantilevers back to the caravan axle. Below is an image to illustrate:

The iSi Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier has a maximum carrying capacity of 64kg.

The iSi Extreme Duty Four Bicycle Carrier has a maximum carrying capacity of 84kg

Road, Gravel, CX, MTB, E-Bikes, Fat and kids bikes

With the wide range of iSi wheel support cradles, we can support Road bikes with ultra thin time trial wheels to the fattest of fat bikes up to 5.5″ wide. The contact is only on the tread and not the sidewall with no straps or tie downs required.

We have identified a practical and reliable solution that ensures the security of your precious cargo.

We recommend utilising a high-quality security cable. This approach involves looping the cable through the frames, carrier and pivot base head, before securely fastening it to the chassis of your vehicle or caravan. It’s important that the security cable should never be left attached while driving. We advise detaching it before hitting the road, as any protruding cable might inadvertently catch onto branches or rocks, potentially causing damage.

All drawbar mounts and support posts are configured by our sales specialists and engineers. With over 147 different combinations of drawbar mounts and posts, we ensure a precise fitment with considerations for weight distribution, trailer articulation and clearance to draw bar compartments including fold out beds.

From our experience, dust gets in through any pin hole or through zips on bike bags, it ends up filling the bag with dust and makes matters worse. There have been some people that have had success going to a custom bike bag maker and having the bag made up to cover the bikes and carrier system.

Due to the unique design of our wheel cradles, a ramp shouldn’t be necessary when loading the bikes. Please see this video for a really simple and safe method of loading your heavy bikes onto the carrier.

Ramps can present a topple hazard when loading, especially high off the drawbar. There are special features of the iSi Bicycle Carrier System to load bikes conveniently and safely.

As your needs change and grow – you may change cars or caravan, or your kids will grow and you need new wheel cradles, we’re in a unique position to keep looking after you with minimal additional cost to you.

Because of the modular design of our carriers, we can mix and match components to suit just about every application on the market. Thankfully most manufacturers have similar configurations so we don’t need a huge range of size variations. We have a buy back policy where for a small charge we take back used components and supply new components of the correct configuration. For example, if in the future you purchase a vehicle where the above configuration is not perfect, then swap the relevant parts over.

When the time comes, we can check our demo stock and if we have the correct components there for you, we can swap them out free of charge (excluding freight), or if you need to use new stock it’s a 40% discount.

Our Bicycle Carrier System is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, Australia. iSi is 100% Australian Owned and use 100% Australian Steel and Materials.
