Jayco Expanda

This Jayco Expanda 4 bike carrier is an Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly on a Jayco Cross Mount, manufactured for Eloise’s family with additional vehicle mounts configured for their Toyota and their Mitsubishi. One carrier, three mounting points, so the bikes follow the family wherever the trip goes.

On the Expanda the cross mount carries all four bikes high on the front of the camper, clear of the drawbar and the boot hatch. The whole carrier tilts forward with the bikes still loaded, which is why this family never unloads at a quick stop over: the bed end winds out, the kettle goes on, and the bikes stay put. Weight sits where a camper tows it best, roughly 70% on the tow ball and 30% on the axle, and the Four Bike Carrier has an 84kg load rating at up to 32kg per bike. When the Expanda stays home, the same carrier moves to the tow bar mount on either vehicle. The geometry keeps the tailgate usable with the carrier installed, which matters when the back seat belongs to two labradors. Every carrier is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in a textured Dulux powder coat, with a lifetime warranty on every system.
