Kokoda Brigade II

Extreme Duty Two Bike Carrier on the Kokoda Extended Drawbar, Shared with a Jeep Grand Cherokee

“Kokoda with their extended drawbar gives so many options that after discussing them with Neil at Kokoda I told him what I wanted and he created this, so I am happy.”

The Solution

This Kokoda Brigade II bike rack takes advantage of something Kokoda offers from the factory: an extended drawbar. The extra length gives the Extreme Duty two bike carrier, manufactured by iSi, a generous mounting position ahead of the Brigade II Platinum’s boot, worked out between the owner and Neil at Kokoda before the van was delivered.

An extended drawbar changes the geometry in the carrier’s favour. There is more room between the coupling and the van body, so the bikes ride with clearance on every side, and the load still splits the drawbar way, roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% through the axle. The carrier pivots upright with both bikes loaded, and a second mount on the Jeep Grand Cherokee takes the carrier when the van stays at camp.
