Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series

This Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series bike carrier is an Extreme Duty Extended Beam configuration, manufactured to carry two bikes well clear of an ARB rear bar. Brendan and Elly wanted a bike rack that could survive a full lap of Australia, corrugations, dust and creek crossings included, and this is the system our sales team configured for their 80 Series.

The carrier installs on the tow bar as a single unit. The extended beam moves the bike cradles rearward so the ARB rear bar and the rear mounted spare wheels stay completely clear, even with both bikes loaded. The Two Bike Carrier, carries up to 64kg and is rated at 32kg per bike, so a pair of loaded touring mountain bikes sits well inside its capacity. Twelve months on the road proved the design. The carrier was dragged through the deep ruts of the Old Telegraph Track on the way to Cape York and finished the lap intact, and the bikes came home without a mark on either frame despite being constantly covered in dust. When Brendan and Elly later downsized to a Suzuki Grand Vitara, they planned to run an iSi carrier on that vehicle as well. Because each system mounts to the tow bar rather than the vehicle body, the same approach transfers between a large 4×4, a small SUV or a caravan drawbar, and our pre-configured vehicle carriers cover the common combinations. Every carrier is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as we have done since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in a textured Dulux powder coat, and every system is covered by a lifetime warranty.
