Product & Fitment

Are iSi bike racks compatible with all types of bicycles?

Yes. iSi bicycle carriers are engineered to accommodate road, gravel, cyclocross, mountain, e-bike, fat bike and childrens bicycles. The iSi Quad Contact Wheel Cradle system contacts the tyre tread only, never the sidewall, which protects both the wheel and the carrier across tyre widths up to 5.1 inches and wheelbases up to 1600 mm.

Where are iSi bike racks manufactured?

iSi bike racks are manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, Australia. iSi is 100% Australian owned and every carrier is made from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, with all fabrication, finishing and assembly completed in our Mitcham facility.

What is the total weight capacity of an iSi bike rack?

The iSi Two Bicycle Carrier is rated to a maximum total load of 64 kg, with up to 32 kg per bicycle and 16 kg per wheel. The iSi Four Bicycle Carrier is rated to a maximum total load of 84 kg, with the same per bicycle and per wheel limits. Both carriers are rated for combined on road and off road use.

Installation & Use

How do I install an iSi bike rack on my vehicle or caravan?

Every iSi bike rack system ships with a comprehensive installation manual and all required hardware. Installation is designed to be completed at home using basic hand tools. Step by step installation guides for every configuration are available in the iSi Guides section.

Does the caravan bike rack pivot for drawbar access?

Yes. Integrated pivot stops allow the entire loaded rack to pivot up, or pivot up and over, providing clear access to the caravan drawbar and front compartments without removing the bicycles.

Does the vehicle bike rack pivot for boot access?

Yes. The vehicle mounted iSi bike rack pivots all the way down to the ground, providing maximum rear access to the vehicle. This is particularly valuable for vehicles with side hinged rear doors, slide out drawers or rear mounted fridges, as the lowered position clears the full swing arc.

Can I use a hitch extension or side swing adaptor on my tow bar?

No. The tow bar pivot base must be installed directly onto a tow bar that is mounted to the vehicle chassis, with no components in between. Any hitch extension or side swing adaptor amplifies the movement of the bicycle carrier and creates uncontrolled pitch, roll and yaw forces, which can damage both the carrier and the bicycles. If you have a specific requirement, please contact iSi for advice.

Loading & Security

How do I load and unload heavy bikes safely?

Load bicycles one wheel at a time rather than lifting the entire bike at once. This technique reduces the load on the operator, improves control, and makes positioning heavier bikes such as e-bikes significantly easier. The iSi cradle geometry is designed specifically to support this loading method.

How do I lock my bikes to the carrier?

iSi recommends a high quality security cable paired with a combination or key padlock. Loop the cable through each bicycle frame, around the carrier main beam or pivot base, and secure it to the vehicle tow bar or caravan chassis. This locks the bicycles to the carrier and the carrier to the vehicle in one pass. Locking devices should be removed during travel to prevent vibration damage.

Do you recommend using a bike cover during travel?

No. While a bike cover may appear to protect bicycles from weather, wind buffeting at highway speed creates significant additional load and vibration on both the bicycles and the carrier. iSi does not recommend fitting bike covers while the carrier is in use.

Can I mount an iSi bike rack on the rear of my caravan or camper trailer?

iSi does not recommend mounting bike racks on the rear of caravans or camper trailers. The rear of a trailer is subject to extreme dynamic forces that can compromise the trailer chassis, the mounting point and the bike rack, affecting the safety of the bicycles and other road users. The A frame (drawbar) is the preferred mounting point and offers far greater stability. Always consult your trailer manufacturer and an iSi representative before considering a rear mount installation.

Buying & Ownership

How do I purchase a drawbar mount for my existing iSi bike rack?

Drawbar mounts and StrongArm support posts are configured individually by the iSi sales and engineering team. Because every caravan drawbar is different, iSi reviews weight distribution, trailer articulation, and clearance to drawbar compartments (including fold out beds) before specifying a solution. Contact iSi with photos of your drawbar to begin the configuration process.

What if I change my vehicle or caravan and need different parts?

iSi bike racks are fully modular, which means components can be mixed and matched to suit almost every vehicle and caravan on the market. If your future vehicle or caravan requires a different configuration, the iSi Buyback Program allows you to return used components for a small charge and exchange them for the correct parts.

Warranty & Support

What is the warranty on an iSi bicycle carrier?

Every iSi bicycle carrier is backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. iSi products are extensively tested across Australia's harshest on road and off road conditions, and the lifetime warranty reflects iSi's confidence in the long term durability of every component manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria.
