Toyota Prado 90 Series

This Toyota Prado 90 bike rack earned its stripes on a 12,000km lap over nine weeks: east coast to Western Australia, the Nullarbor, corrugated dirt by the hundreds of kilometres, and a four hour bog on a sand dune west of Esperance. iSi configured an Extreme Duty 4x4x2 with a high profile pivot base, mounted through a tow bar mount system on the 90 Series Prado.

The bikes on the back rode to the start of the Munda Biddi trail and 1,200km of riding between Perth and Albany, and never shifted once on the way there or back. The high profile pivot base lifts the carrier for extra clearance in exactly the terrain this trip found, and the fold down pivot meant the Prado’s rear door opened to its full extent with both bikes still on the rack, keeping the camping gear in the back reachable every night.

Capacity and fit

Each cradle carries up to 32kg with room for a 1600mm wheelbase and tyres to 5.1 inches. The Two Bike Rack Assembly, with a 64kg total capacity, rated for corrugations rather than merely surviving them.
