Jayco Expanda Pop Top

This Jayco Expanda Pop Top bike rack is an Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly on a Jayco Cross Mount, manufactured for Mark’s Expanda Touring Pop Top with a matching tow bar mount for his Mitsubishi Pajero. Four bikes travel on the front of the van, and the same carrier moves to the Pajero when the van is unhitched.

Ball weight is the number every Expanda owner watches, and it is the number this configuration is designed around. The cross mount positions the carrier high on the van front with the load shared roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle, and Mark’s own measurement after installation said it best: the complete system came in under his maximum ball weight with all four bikes aboard. The Four Bike Carrier is rated to 84kg and carries up to 32kg per bike. Every Jayco we have installed is listed on the Jayco bike rack page.

Because the carrier sits on the pop top’s front face rather than the drawbar itself, the gas bottle and jockey wheel stay accessible, and the whole assembly tilts with the bikes loaded so the roof can pop and the bed ends can wind out at an overnight stop without unloading anything. The same thinking runs through all of our caravan bike racks, and the Pajero’s tow bar mount comes from the same range as our pre-configured vehicle carriers.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in a textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
