Iveco EarthCruiser
Two Bike Rack Assembly Behind the Rear Spare on an Expedition Truck
The Solution
This Iveco EarthCruiser bike rack was installed for a serious itinerary: Ralph’s Australian Geographic supported trans continental expedition, documented as Asking For Directions. His EarthCruiser is built on the Iveco Daily 4×4, and the Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier rides at the rear, carrying the e-mountain bikes that let the expedition range beyond where even the truck can go.
An expedition truck rear is crowded territory. This installation clears the full size spare in its cover and keeps the bikes tight against the body, with each bike held by the frame in its own cradle. At 32kg per bike the capacity handles e-MTBs with batteries installed, and the 500mm beam positions the load for the Iveco’s departure angle rather than against it. The Two Bike Carrier is rated to 64kg. The rest of the lineup is covered on our vehicle bike racks page.
Fitting the carrier at our Mitcham workshop turned into an afternoon of swapping wild adventure stories, which is an occupational hazard when EarthCruisers visit. This is the third EarthCruiser we have configured for, alongside an Explorer on a Unimog chassis, and expedition vehicles have become something of a specialty: one off geometry, measured and manufactured to the truck.
Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty wherever the expedition ends up. See the pre-configured vehicle carriers for standard vehicles, or contact us for the unusual ones.
