Mitsubishi Pajero

This Mitsubishi Pajero bike rack is the off road version of the story: an Extreme Duty 4x4x2 carrier on an extended beam, manufactured by iSi and rated for the corrugated roads where standard racks shake themselves apart. It mounts to the Pajero through a tow bar mount system with nothing drilled into the vehicle.

Off road spec starts at the cradles and runs through the beam and mount. Both bikes ride low over the tow bar, and the extended beam holds them clear of the rear door and the spare, so the wagon opens and closes normally with the carrier pivoted up, bikes and all. Capacity and fit

Each cradle takes up to 32kg, a wheelbase to 1600mm and tyres to 5.1 inches, so the system carries loaded touring bikes and mountain bikes without complaint. The Two Bike Rack Assembly, with a 64kg total capacity.
