Toyota Tundra

This Toyota Tundra bike rack is another iSi system working a long way from the Mitcham factory. Configured as an Extreme Duty 4x4x2 on a mid beam, it carries two bikes behind a Tundra TRD wearing a slide-in camper, over in the USA.

A tray camper changes the mounting equation, since the rear of the vehicle is occupied and often overhangs the tow bar. The mid beam gives the two cradles the standoff they need to clear the camper while keeping the load low and centred through the tow bar mount system. The carrier pivots up with both bikes loaded and comes off the mount entirely when the camper does. Every vehicle we have installed a system on starts from the tow bar bike rack range.

Capacity and fit

Each cradle carries up to 32kg, with room for wheelbases to 1600mm and tyres to 5.1 inches, so American full size mountain bikes fit as easily as anything ridden here. Extreme Duty spec means the system is rated for corrugated forest roads and desert two-track, not just the highway.
