Jayco Expanda 6 Bicycles

This Jayco Expanda 6 bike rack configuration is the biggest family configuration we build: an Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly on a Jayco bolt on drawbar mount at the front of Todd’s Expanda Outback 20.64.1, and a Two Bike Expansion Pack on the back of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 towing it. Six bikes, one family, six weeks on the road through WA’s south and up to Coral Bay for Christmas.

Splitting six bikes across two carriers is the right engineering answer. The four heaviest ride the camper’s drawbar where the load splits roughly 70% to the ball and 30% to the axle, pivoting upright with the bikes loaded when the Expanda sets up, while the remaining two sit on the Land Cruiser where they stay accessible for a quick ride at any stop. Each cradle holds its bike by the frame at up to 32kg. Owners of other models can compare configurations across our Jayco bike racks range.

One important note on this installation: the Land Cruiser’s rear bar required custom fabrication to carry bikes safely, and that work was done by a qualified trailer technician. If your configuration needs similar modification, we recommend engaging a local trailer technician for the fabrication, and we will configure the carrier side to suit.
