Jayco Starcraft
Two Bike Rack Assembly, Jayco Bolt-On Drawbar Mount and Colorado Tow Bar Mount
“Here are a couple of pictures of our iSi setup on our van. Really impressed with the engineering and attention to detail in the structural integrity of your bike racks.”
The Solution
This Jayco Starcraft Outback bike rack is an Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier on a Jayco bolt on drawbar mount, manufactured for Bernhard’s Starcraft Outback pop top with a matching tow bar mount for his Holden Colorado. Two bikes travel on the van’s drawbar when the family tours, and on the Colorado when they do not.
Bernhard’s feedback zeroed in on the thing we care most about: the engineering and the structural integrity of the rack. That is not an accident of marketing, it is Australian mild steel and stainless steel, sized with margins rather than to a price, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat. A carrier that holds bikes over corrugations for years has to start as honest steel.
On the Starcraft Outback the bolt on drawbar mount installs without welding, positioning the carrier to clear the pop top’s front hatch while splitting the load roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle. The carrier pivots upright with both bikes loaded, so the roof still lifts at camp with everything in place. The Two Bike Carrier is rated to 64kg and carries up to 32kg per bike.
Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, and covered by a lifetime warranty. The Starcraft family and every other Jayco are covered in our caravan bike racks range, and the Colorado mount comes from the pre-configured vehicle carriers.
