TVAN MK5 – Extended Drawbar
Two Bike Rack Assembly, TVan MK5 Bolt-On Drawbar Mount and Support Post
“The Support Post worked really well. It's a precision fit on the front of my TVAN, but everything works together.”
The Solution
This TVan MK5 Extended Drawbar bike rack shows how an extended drawbar creates an ideal platform for carrying bikes without compromising access or performance. For Adam’s MK5 we installed a two bike carrier on a 100% bolt on TVan MK5 mount, taking full advantage of the extra drawbar length.
The extended drawbar gives the space to sit the bikes neatly forward and out of the way of the tow vehicle, and crucially the MK5’s spare tyre can stay in place with two bikes on board. The positioning also keeps excellent clearance when the tow vehicle carries a rear mounted spare, such as a Prado, which makes it a practical answer for touring configurations where rear access and turning clearance matter.
Keeping the bikes forward on the drawbar keeps the load balanced and stable across sealed roads and rough off road terrain alike, splitting the weight roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle. Adam’s feedback singled out the StrongArm Support Post as a precision fit on the front of his TVan, with everything working together. Each bike rides in its own wheel support cradles, held by a frame support cradle, at up to 32kg, rated to 64kg total.
