Austrack Tanami

This Austrack Tanami 4 bike rack shows how a properly engineered drawbar mounted carrier can add serious functionality to an off road camper. For this configuration we installed an Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly on the Tanami’s drawbar, giving the owners a secure, practical way to carry the whole family’s bikes.

The carrier bolts directly to the drawbar and is supported by our adjustable H-Mount and StrongArm Support Post, a rigid structure built for the demands of Australian touring. Positioning on the drawbar was carefully planned so the jockey wheel and front storage areas stay accessible while maintaining clearance for turning and articulation on uneven terrain.

Keeping the load close to the body of the van helps manage ball weight and improves towing stability, splitting the load roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle. The result is a strong platform that keeps four bikes secure on highways, gravel roads and remote tracks, each in its own wheel support cradles, held by a frame support cradle, at up to 32kg, rated to 84kg total.

The installation blends neatly with the camper’s drawbar layout and adds carrying capacity without compromising usability. Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
