Crusader X-Country
Two Bike Rack Assembly, Chassis-Mounted H-Mount with Slotted U-Bolt Sections
“Your service and attention to detail has been fantastic. The install deserved some extra detail to come together perfectly. I'm very pleased.”
The Solution
This Crusader X-Country bike rack shows how a clean, well positioned mount delivers excellent strength without major changes to the drawbar layout. For John’s X-Country we installed a two bike carrier on a 100% bolt on design that integrates directly with the chassis, keeping all standard drawbar components in place and the front of the van fully usable.
The clever detail on this build was John’s own: he incorporated slotted sections for the U-bolts, letting the mount sit flush and secure against the chassis. That approach removes twisting forces at the mounting point and creates a far more stable, durable connection, exactly the kind of collaborative touch that makes an install come together perfectly.
Keeping the load tight to the chassis maintains excellent towing balance while holding the bikes secure across all terrain, splitting the load roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle. The result is a rigid platform that performs on rough tracks as well as sealed roads. John’s feedback singled out the service and attention to detail, and he was very pleased with the result. Each bike rides in its own wheel support cradles, held by a frame support cradle, at up to 32kg, rated to 64kg total.
