Masterpiece Caravan
Two Bike Rack Assembly Behind the Stone Guard, H-Mount, Support Post and Dodge RAM Mount
“Fitted it, it's awesome!”
The Solution
This Masterpiece caravan bike rack rides one of the toughest van and tow rig combinations we have configured: Bruce’s Masterpiece Optimum off road caravan behind a Dodge RAM. The Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier sits on a bolt on drawbar H-Mount with a support post, positioned behind the stone guard, with a PBC-H vehicle mount system for the RAM when the van stays put.
The behind stone guard position is the right call on a van built for corrugations. The guard keeps doing its job, catching the spray of stones a RAM’s tyres throw at highway speed, while the bikes sit protected behind it with the load split roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle. The support post carries the extra weight into the chassis, engineering that matters when the van itself is rated for the country the Optimum is built to cross.
Bruce’s review was three words, installed it, awesome, which is roughly the ratio of effort to result we design for. The 400mm beam Two Bike Carrier is rated to 64kg and holds each bike by the frame at up to 32kg.
Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty. Off road caravan configurations live in our caravan bike racks range, and the RAM joins the pre-configured vehicle carriers.
