Mitsubishi Challenger

This Mitsubishi Challenger bike rack replaced a homemade arrangement of foam padding, support bars and bungee cords with something far simpler: an Extreme Duty 4x4x2 two bike carrier manufactured by iSi, mounted through a tow bar mount system. Now the bikes lift on, lift off, and nothing else needs to happen.

Each bike drops into its own cradle rather than hanging by the frame, which is why no padding or improvisation is required. The carrier holds the pair low and central behind the Challenger, inside the vehicle’s width so nothing protrudes past the mirrors, and it pivots up with the bikes loaded whenever the tailgate needs to open. Capacity and fit

The Two Bike Rack Assembly, and carries up to 64kg, each cradle rated to 32kg with room for a 1600mm wheelbase and tyres to 5.1 inches. When the riding is done, the whole carrier lifts off the mount in one piece.
