Trackabout Camper Trailer

This Trackabout Camper Trailer bike rack carries four bikes on the camper’s drawbar, using a 4x4x4 off road carrier with a compact beam, manufactured by iSi. The Trackabout is built for rough country, and the carrier was configured to match it, bolting to the drawbar without modification.

Drawbar mounting is the right place for a load like this on an off road camper. The weight splits between the tow vehicle and the trailer, roughly 70% on the tow ball and 30% through the axle, which keeps the trailer stable through corrugations and washouts. The compact beam holds the four cradles close together over the drawbar, and the carrier pivots upright with all four bikes still loaded, keeping the front of the camper reachable at overnight stops.

Capacity and fit

The Four Bike Rack Assembly, and carries up to 84kg, with each cradle rated to 32kg. Wheelbases up to 1600mm and tyres up to 5.1 inches wide fit in the cradles, so four full size mountain bikes travel behind the camper without touching each other or the trailer.
