This Nissan X-Trail bike rack sent its holiday photos home from the Flinders Ranges: four bikes on an Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly, riding a Compact High Profile car mount system on the tow bar of Andrew’s X-Trail, deep in South Australia’s best touring country.

Four bikes behind a mid size SUV is the configuration that surprises people. The X-Trail manages it because the load is engineered rather than hung: the Compact High Profile mount bolts straight to the tow bar and comes off just as easily, the design keeps the bikes low with the weight balanced over the tow ball for stable long distance touring, and the carrier pivots up with the bikes loaded so the tailgate stays within reach at every stop.

The 700mm beam Four Bike Carrier is rated to 84kg and holds each bike by the frame at up to 32kg, the family fleet secured for corrugated Flinders access roads as confidently as for the highway run home.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
