Will this bike rack fit my Tesla?
Yes. The iSi Tesla bike rack is compatible with Tesla Model Y, Model 3, Model S and Model X, provided your vehicle has a 50x50mm tow bar receiver. This includes the Genuine Tesla tow bar option on Model Y, Model S and Model X, as well as aftermarket tow bars from Stealth Hitches, Torklift, EcoHitch and similar hidden-style receivers.
Does the bike rack affect my Tesla's range?
The impact is minimal when the rack is empty thanks to its low-profile design and tight rear geometry. With bikes loaded, range impact depends on bike count, bike type and speed, much like any roof or rear carrier.
The iSi rack keeps bikes low and close to the vehicle, well below the roofline, so drag is substantially less than a roof-mounted system. Most owners report range impact in single-digit percentages on highway trips with two bikes loaded.
Does it work with a Genuine Tesla tow bar?
Yes. The iSi rack connects to any 50x50mm tow bar receiver, including the Genuine Tesla Model Y tow hitch, Model S tow package and Model X factory towing system. Installation takes around 5 minutes and uses the standard hitch pin, no modifications required.
Does it work with aftermarket hitches like Stealth or Torklift?
Yes. Aftermarket hidden hitches from Stealth Hitches, Torklift EcoHitch, Curt and similar brands all use the industry-standard 50x50mm square receiver. The iSi rack is compatible with every one of them.
These aftermarket hitches are particularly popular on Tesla Model 3 where no factory tow option is offered in Australia.
Will the bike rack void my Tesla warranty?
The iSi rack attaches to your tow bar, not to the vehicle itself, and applies load within the tow bar's rated carrying capacity. As long as your tow bar is installed correctly (Genuine Tesla or quality aftermarket) and you stay within the rack and tow bar weight ratings, the rack itself does not alter or interfere with any Tesla component.
Always confirm your tow bar's rated vertical load limit before loading multiple heavy e-bikes. Our team can advise on bike weight per Tesla model.
Can I open my Model Y or Model X liftgate with bikes loaded?
Yes. The PoziLock pivot mechanism lets you pivot the entire rack (with bikes on board) down and out of the way, providing full clearance for the powered liftgate on Model Y and Model X. The pivot takes about 15 seconds and does not require unloading the bikes.
What's the difference between the 2-bike and 4-bike Tesla rack?
The 2-bike Tesla rack uses a compact main beam optimised for two riders and the tightest possible rear profile, ideal for couples and solo owners. The 4-bike rack uses a longer beam with stadium-style staggered loading to fit four bikes in the most compact length possible, ideal for families.
Both share the same Tesla-compatible mount and you can buy a Conversion Pack to switch between them later.
Will my bikes obscure my Tesla's brake lights and number plate?
Tesla rear lights sit low on the car, which means bikes on any rear rack can obscure visibility. The iSi Tesla rack includes a licence plate holder as standard. For full compliance with brake lights and indicators, we strongly recommend adding the iSi Lightboard System which provides plug-and-play LED replacement lighting via your trailer connector.
Will it carry electric bikes?
Yes. The iSi Tesla bike rack handles bikes up to 32kg each, well above most e-bike weights. The wheel-by-wheel loading method means you don't lift the full bike weight at any point. The 2-bike rack carries 64kg total, the 4-bike rack carries 84kg total.
