Vacationer RV

This Vacationer RV bike rack carries two bikes on a drawbar mounted system manufactured by iSi. The configuration pairs a Two Bike Rack Assembly with a bolt-on H-Mount and a StrongArm Support Post, so the carrier bolts straight to the drawbar of the van with no welding and no modification to the chassis.

Because the rack sits over the drawbar, the load is shared between the tow vehicle and the van, with roughly 70% of the weight carried on the tow ball and 30% through the axle. The carrier sits low and close to the drawbar, which keeps the centre of mass down and the towing behaviour predictable. When it is time to stop for the night, the carrier pivots upright with both bikes still loaded, keeping the front of the van and the coupling within easy reach without unloading a single bike.

How the system mounts

The H-Mount bolts to the standard drawbar of the Vacationer RV and the StrongArm Support Post steadies the assembly on corrugations and rough roads. The two bike carrier weighs 14.15kg and carries up to 64kg, with each bike cradle rated to 32kg, so a pair of full size adult bikes travels comfortably within capacity.
