Zeekr 7X
Two bike rack assembly · Tow bar mount system · Lightboard system
The Solution
This Zeekr 7X bike rack is a good illustration of how the system is meant to work. Terry has owned his carrier since 2014. When he moved out of a Subaru and into the Zeekr 7X, the carrier came with him. We configured and installed a new Tow Bar Mount System to suit the 7X, and the same Two Bike Rack Assembly he has been using for over a decade bolted straight onto it.
That is the point of building a carrier in parts. The assembly that holds the bikes is not specific to any one vehicle. The piece that changes is the mount system underneath it, so a carrier bought for one car is not written off the day that car is traded. Terry’s has now outlasted the vehicle it was bought for.
The 7X is electric, and that shapes the install. The tailgate carries the rear glass and the sensors, and hanging bikes off it is not an option. Mounting to the tow bar puts the load into the chassis instead, keeps the tailgate working, and leaves the back of a new EV untouched. The Two Bike Rack Assembly is rated to 64kg with 32kg allowed per bike, which is enough for two full suspension trail bikes with room to spare.
A Lightboard System was installed as well. Two bikes on 29 inch wheels sit behind the tail lights of a low, wide SUV, so the lightboard carries the indicators, brake lights and number plate where other drivers can actually see them.
Every carrier is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, where we have been building them since 2007. If you are working out what suits your vehicle, our pre-configured vehicle carriers cover the common fitments, and the sales team can confirm the right mount system for an EV tow bar.
