Austrack Tanami

This Austrack Tanami bike rack is an Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier on a bolt on Adjustable H-Mount with a StrongArm Support Post, mounted in front of the toolbox on the Tanami’s drawbar. It is the second Austrack we have configured for, and the brand’s hybrids share a drawbar layout that suits this position perfectly.

The Tanami’s drawbar earns its keep before the bikes arrive, with a toolbox, stone protection and gas aboard, so the carrier mounts ahead of the storage where every lid keeps opening with both bikes loaded. A bolt on jockey wheel arrangement preserves the wheel’s full swing, and the StrongArm post takes the bike load into the chassis rather than through the drawbar arms alone.

The 400mm beam keeps the bikes close with the load split roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle, and the carrier pivots upright with both bikes loaded when the camper opens at camp. Each bike rides in its own wheel support cradles, held by a frame support cradle, at up to 32kg, with the assembly rated to 64kg total.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
