Blue Sky Caravan

This Blue Sky Caravan bike rack is a tale of two mounting positions. Kendal’s bikes used to hang off the back of the van, and the movement was constant, worst of all with the water tanks empty and the rear axle unloaded. Moving them to an Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier on the drawbar, on an H-Mount with StrongArm Support Post, transformed the van: incredibly stable, even running dry.

The physics is the same story our engineers tell every caller: mass hung behind the rear axle multiplies every pitch and sway, while mass over the drawbar sits near the van’s natural balance point, splitting roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle. Kendal was skeptical that a 1200mm drawbar could take the bikes at all, but the mount geometry was dimensioned to it, preserving full articulation for off road work and complete access to the front boot.
