Jayco Journey Outback
Four Bike Rack Assembly, Jayco Bolt-On Drawbar Mount, Support Post and Ford Everest Mount System
The Solution
This Jayco Journey Outback bike rack is an Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly on a Jayco bolt on drawbar mount with a support post, paired with a PBC-H vehicle mount system for the Ford Everest that tows it. It is the full family configuration: bikes on the van for the long remote trips, bikes on the Everest for everything in between.
The Journey Outback rides higher than the standard Journey and goes further off the bitumen, so the mounting hardware matters more. The bolt on mount fixes to the drawbar without welding and comes off just as easily, the support post carries the load into the chassis, and the modular build sits the weight back toward the van, roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle, for stable towing and full articulation off road. The carrier pivots forward with the bikes loaded so the front boot stays within reach at camp. We install the same carrier on other models, and the Jayco bike racks range has the details.
The 700mm beam Four Bike Carrier is rated to 84kg and holds each bike by the frame in its own cradle at up to 32kg, with room for the whole family fleet behind the Everest on the long hauls.
Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty. The Journey Outback and every other Jayco are covered in our caravan bike racks, with the Everest in the pre-configured vehicle carriers.
