Crusader Caravan
Two Bike Rack Assembly, H-Mount and Support Post with Relocated Jockey Wheel
“It worked out great, just what we wanted.”
The Solution
This Crusader Caravan bike rack shows how a properly engineered solution delivers strength and stability while adapting to the van’s existing layout. For Joe’s Crusader we installed a two bike carrier on a 100% bolt on mounting system, relocating the jockey wheel so the mount could sit in its optimal position and spread the load evenly across the chassis.
That even load spread is the point. By removing pressure from any single point on the drawbar, the design avoids stress hot spots and improves long term durability, which matters most over rough roads. With the load distributed correctly the bikes stay rock solid in travel, on highways or uneven terrain, and keeping the carrier close to the van maintains proper towing balance, roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle.
Despite the adjustments, the installation stays clean and practical, integrating neatly with the caravan while preserving access to key components. Joe’s verdict was short and satisfied: it worked out great, just what we wanted. Each bike rides in its own wheel support cradles, held by a frame support cradle, at up to 32kg, rated to 64kg total, on an H-Mount with a StrongArm Support Post.
