Nissan Patrol GU

Extreme Duty Four Bike Carrier, Extended Beam, on a Tow Bar Mount System

The Solution

This Nissan Patrol GU bike rack carries 4 bikes on an Extreme Duty 4x4x4, configured around real touring hardware. The extended beam carrier, manufactured by iSi, mounts through a tow bar mount system behind a Patrol wearing a Kaymar rear bar, and a second mount on the family’s Kia Carnival lets the same carrier move between the two vehicles.

A Kaymar bar carries its own spare wheel and jerry can swingaways, which is exactly why the extended beam matters here. The extra standoff holds all four bikes clear of the bar’s hardware while the load stays low over the tow bar. The carrier pivots up with the bikes loaded so the swingaways and rear door still operate, and it lifts across to the Carnival for trips that do not need the Patrol. The same system is manufactured for other vehicles across our vehicle bike racks range.
