Land Rover Defender

Extreme Duty 2 Bike Carrier, 600mm Beam, on a Tow Bar Mount System

“Works well, so nice not worrying about ripping it off the roof or having to shove the wheel somewhere.”

Justin

The Solution

This Land Rover Defender 2 bike rack replaced a roof-mounted arrangement, and its owner has not looked back. The Extreme Duty 4x4x2 on a 600mm beam, manufactured by iSi, carries both bikes at bumper height through a tow bar mount system, with no wheels to remove and no low bridges to fear.

Roof carriage on a Defender means lifting bikes above head height and remembering they are up there at every car park entrance. Moving the bikes to the tow bar puts them where they load in seconds and travel out of the wind, and the 600mm beam holds them clear of the Defender’s rear-mounted spare. The carrier pivots up with the bikes loaded whenever the rear door swings. For other makes and models, see our vehicle bike rack range.

Capacity and fit

Each cradle carries up to 32kg, wheels on, with room for a 1600mm wheelbase and tyres to 5.1 inches. The Two Bike Rack Assembly, with a 64kg total capacity, and the whole carrier lifts off between trips.

iSi has manufactured every carrier in Mitcham, Victoria since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel with a zinc primed, textured Dulux powder coat finish, and a lifetime warranty on each. If your bikes still live on the roof, the pre-configured vehicle carriers are worth a look before your next trip.
