Jayco Expanda
Extreme Duty Four Bike Carrier, Drawbar Mounted, Shared with a Land Cruiser 200
“All completed and powder coated. Looks and works fantastic. I have to say that I am pretty happy with the finished product, fits like a glove! Loving this carrier, thanks guys.”
The Solution
This Jayco Expanda Outback bike rack carries four bikes on the drawbar of the Outback variant, the higher-riding Expanda that Jayco builds for rougher roads. The Extreme Duty 4x4x4 carrier, manufactured by iSi, shares its time between the van and the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 that tows it.
The Outback’s raised chassis changes nothing for the carrier: it bolts to the drawbar, splits the load roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% through the axle, and holds all four bikes low and central. The powder coated finish matches the rest of the van’s hardware, and the carrier pivots upright with the bikes loaded, keeping the drawbar accessible at camp. When the van stays home, the same carrier lifts onto the Cruiser’s tow bar mount.
