Volvo S40

This Volvo S40 bike rack answers a question the sales team hears often: does a sedan really take the same Extreme Duty hardware as the 4x4s? It does. This 4x4x2 compact carrier, manufactured by iSi and mounted through a tow bar mount system, was photographed working in the forest near Margaret River in Western Australia.

On a sedan the compact 400mm beam is the natural choice, holding both cradles close behind the boot with the load carried low over the tow bar. The bikes ride at bumper height rather than up on the roof, which means no lifting overhead, no garage door surprises, and less drag on the highway to the trailhead. Capacity and fit

Each cradle carries up to 32kg with room for a 1600mm wheelbase and tyres to 5.1 inches, which is more than enough for a pair of mountain bikes bound for the forest singletrack. The Two Bike Rack Assembly, and lifts off the mount in one piece.
