Mercedes G550

This Mercedes G550 bike rack is an Extreme Duty Four Bicycle Carrier, manufactured for Randal in the United States after he had broken several other carriers on overland trips. He searched widely for a durable off road bike rack and chose iSi, and the same carrier now moves between his Mercedes G550, his Land Rover Defender and his Discovery as the trip requires.

The system installs on the tow bar, so swapping it from one vehicle to another takes minutes rather than an afternoon. That is what makes a single carrier practical across three different 4x4s. The Four Bike Carrier, carries up to 84kg and is rated at 32kg per bike, and because the system is modular it can be configured for two bikes or four depending on who is coming along. The geometry keeps the bikes high and tight against the vehicle, which preserves clearance angles on rough tracks, and the carrier pivots away from the rear doors when you need access.
