Land Rover Defender LB
Extreme Duty Extended Two Bike Carrier, 600mm, on a Tow Bar Mount System
The Solution
This Land Rover Defender LB bike rack pairs an Extreme Duty Extended two bike carrier at 600mm with a tow bar mount system, all manufactured by iSi. The long body Defender keeps its spare wheel on the side-hinged rear door, and this configuration works around that without touching the vehicle: the system simply bolts to the tow bar.
The extended 600mm carrier holds both bikes far enough back to clear the rear-mounted spare while the load stays low and central behind the vehicle. That keeps the Defender’s handling honest with two bikes on board, on the highway or on a rough station track. When the rear door needs to swing, the carrier pivots up with the bikes still loaded, so there is no unloading just to grab something from the back. Owners of other vehicles can start with the full tow bar bike rack range.
Capacity and fit
Each of the two cradles is rated to 32kg, taking a wheelbase up to 1600mm and tyres up to 5.1 inches wide. Heavy e-bikes, touring bikes with panniers removed, or a pair of mountain bikes all sit within capacity, each in its own cradle away from the bodywork.
iSi has manufactured every one of these systems in Mitcham, Victoria since 2007, using Australian mild steel and stainless steel finished in zinc primer and textured Dulux powder coat, with a lifetime warranty across the range. The pre-configured vehicle carriers include systems for most 4x4s, and the sales team can put together this exact configuration for your own Defender.
