Extreme Duty Two Bike Carrier, Compact Beam, on a Tow Bar Mount System
“Thanks again for a really easy to use rack with plenty of clearance. Load our bikes, lower the support hooks, a turn or 2 of the T-bolt and done. Maybe 10 seconds, seems too simple. Solid as.”
The Solution
This Mazda 2 bike rack might be the best proof that an iSi system scales to any vehicle. A light hatchback with a tow bar carries the same Extreme Duty two bike carrier on a compact beam that the big 4x4s run, manufactured in the same way and mounted through the same tow bar mount system.
On a car this size, keeping the load low and close matters more than anywhere else. The compact beam holds both cradles tight behind the hatch, the weight rides directly over the tow bar, and there is still plenty of clearance between the bikes and the rear glass. Loading takes seconds: the bikes drop into their cradles, the support hooks come down, and the T-bolts turn once or twice to lock everything solid. The rest of the lineup is covered on our vehicle bike racks page.
Capacity and fit
The Two Bike Rack Assembly, light enough to lift onto the mount in one motion, and carries up to 64kg with each cradle rated for 32kg. Wheelbases to 1600mm and tyres to 5.1 inches fit without adjustment, which covers everything a Mazda 2 owner is likely to ride.
