Porsche Macan

This Porsche Macan bike rack proves the range runs from outback tourers to European performance SUVs without changing philosophy. Warren and Helen’s Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier rides a Compact car mount system sized for the Macan’s tow bar, and their carrier arrived a day early, installed first try, and in their words fits and looks great.

The Compact system is the right choice for vehicles like the Macan: shorter overhangs, tighter rear styling and a parking sensor suite that objects to bulky racks. The 400mm beam keeps both bikes close to the tailgate, each in its own wheel support cradles, held by a frame support cradle, so nothing swings wide in a carpark and nothing touches the paint. At 32kg per bike the rating handles anything from carbon road bikes to e-bikes. Owners of other vehicles can start with the full tow bar bike rack range.

The engineering underneath is identical to the systems we build for Land Cruisers: Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed, textured Dulux powder coat, and a mount that bolts up rigid. On a vehicle bought for how it drives, a rack that neither wobbles nor rattles is the only acceptable passenger.
