Jayco Journey Outback
Four Bike Rack Assembly, H-Mount and Support Post Around a Tall Toolbox and Gas Bottles
“Bolted up well, awesome bike racks.”
The Solution
This Jayco Journey Outback 4 bike rack shows how a high capacity solution is achieved even with a more complex drawbar layout. For Stuart’s Journey Outback we installed a Four Bike Rack Assembly on a 100% bolt on mounting system, working around a tall toolbox and gas bottles positioned at the front of the drawbar.
The careful part was ball weight. With a tall toolbox and gas up front, the carrier is positioned to keep the load further back on the drawbar, which helps manage ball weight and maintain stable towing, reducing unnecessary load on the very front of the chassis. That matters most when carrying four bikes, and it keeps the split near the ideal 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle. The same system is manufactured for other models across our Jayco bike racks range.
Despite the tighter space, the mount integrates cleanly with the caravan, maintaining access to key components while delivering a strong, secure platform. Stuart’s verdict: bolted up well, awesome bike racks. Mounted on an H-Mount with a StrongArm Support Post, each bike rides in its own wheel support cradles, held by a frame support cradle, at up to 32kg, rated to 84kg total.
Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
