MDC Forbes 12
Bolt-On Two Bike Rack with H-Mount and Support Post for a Short Drawbar
“The carrier has arrived and I have installed it this morning. Very happy with the product.”
The Solution
The MDC Forbes 12 is a compact off-road camper, and its short drawbar leaves little room to work with, yet it still takes a strong, practical two-bike carrier when the mount is engineered for the space. This build shows how a fully bolt-on solution delivers a precise fit and a clean finish without giving up any camper functionality.
For this configuration we installed a two-bike rack to the MDC Forbes 12 using a 100% bolt-on mounting system, so there is no drilling or welding to the chassis. With a shorter drawbar to work around, the layout was carefully planned to sit exactly where it needs to while keeping the front toolbox and hitch fully accessible. We install the same carrier on other MDC models, and the MDC bike racks range has the details.
The carrier holds the bikes low and close to the chassis, which keeps the centre of gravity down and improves towing stability. Movement is kept to a minimum, so the load stays composed and secure across sealed highways and rougher off-road tracks alike.
The platform carries up to two bikes at 32kg per bike, tied back to the drawbar through an adjustable H-Mount and a StrongArm support post for a rock-solid base. Careful weight distribution keeps the configuration balanced and predictable behind the camper.
The finished result is a neat, durable MDC Forbes 12 two-bike rack, a reliable, space-efficient way to bring the bikes along while preserving full use of the camper on every trip.
