Snowy River Bike Rack

This Snowy River bike rack is an Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier on an Adjustable bolt on H-Mount with a StrongArm Support Post, fitted to the caravan’s drawbar with a PBC-H vehicle mount system for the Toyota Hilux that tows it. Snowy River vans carry their gas bottles on an open drawbar with no toolbox, and this configuration works neatly around them.

The design brief is strength, simplicity and stability. The bolt on system holds the bikes as close to the van body as the gas bottles allow, keeping weight distribution balanced at roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle, with full trailer articulation preserved for rough terrain. Unlike strap dependent carriers, the rigid frame held cradles do not shift on corrugations, each carrying up to 32kg of bike.

On a Snowy River’s standard drawbar the system carries two bikes; vans optioned with the extended drawbar can take the Four Bike Rack Assembly instead. Either way the same carrier lifts across to the Hilux’s tow bar between trips, one system covering the van and the ute.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
