Subaru Outback

Two Bike Rack Assembly, Compact High Profile Pivot Base and Lightboard System

The Solution

This Subaru Outback bike rack is an Extreme Duty Two Bicycle Carrier on a bolt on PBC/H Compact High Profile pivot base, fixing straight to the Outback’s tow bar and coming off just as easily between rides. The Outback is Australia’s default adventure wagon, and this configuration keeps it that way with two bikes aboard.

The compact geometry keeps the bikes low and close to the vehicle, holding the load steady and comfortably within the Outback’s tow bar rating, while the high profile pivot base tilts the carrier up with the bikes loaded so the tailgate stays within reach at every stop. Each bike rides in its own frame held cradle at up to 32kg, sealed roads or dirt.

This installation also runs an iSi Lightboard System, which carries the number plate and full tail light functions behind the bikes. With two bikes masking the rear of a wagon, the lightboard is what keeps the setup visible, legal and neighbourly on the highway at dusk.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty. The Outback joins the Subaru family in our pre-configured vehicle carriers, with towed configurations in the caravan bike racks range.
