TVAN MK6 Extended Drawbar

This TVAN MK6 bike rack carries two bikes forward on the extended drawbar of a Track Trailer TVAN MK6, on a Fixed H-Mount with a StrongArm Support Post.

The MK6 comes with an extended drawbar, and that changes what is possible. There is real length in front of the body to work with, so the bikes sit well forward of the camper, clear of the tailgate, the rear kitchen and the awning. Nothing on the back of the camper has to be worked around, and nothing on the rack blocks the way in.

Because the geometry on an MK6 drawbar is consistent, we configured this one on a Fixed H-Mount rather than an adjustable. A fixed mount has fewer adjustment points to check, sits the assembly at exactly the height the MK6 needs, and stays where it is set. The StrongArm Support Post underneath carries the load down into the drawbar.

Weight distribution is the reason drawbar mounting suits a TVAN. With the bikes forward, roughly 70 percent of the load goes onto the tow ball and 30 percent onto the axle, so the camper stays settled instead of pushing the back of the tow vehicle around. The two bike assembly is rated to 64kg with 32kg allowed per bike.

The assembly pivots up loaded and without tools, so the front storage and the hitch stay accessible with both bikes still on it.
