79 Series LandCruiser

This 79 Series LandCruiser bike rack was built for one of the more extreme briefs we get: Louis’s fully equipped 79 Series rolled in on portal axles, kitted for serious long range off road touring, and needed a carrier that could clear dual 35 inch spare tyres, preserve maximum departure angle, and survive extreme conditions without compromise. The answer was an Extended Four Bike Rack Assembly on a PBE/H Extended Pivot Base.

The extended geometry is what makes it work. Dual 35s hang a long way off the back of a touring 79, so the extended beam and pivot base stand the four bike load clear of the spares while keeping the departure angle intact for the steep stuff a portal-axle Cruiser is built to climb. The pivot base swings the whole loaded carrier aside for access, and with a Trigg Point canopy on the tray, that access matters. Louis researched hard before buying and found nothing else on the market matched a long range 79. His verdict afterwards: best carrier on the market, bikes don’t get scratched, solid, everything you could wish for. Each bike rides in its own wheel support cradles, held by a frame support cradle, at up to 32kg, with the assembly rated to 84kg total. Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
