Toyota Prado 150 Series

Extreme Duty Fat Bike Carrier, Mid Beam, on a Tow Bar Mount System

The Solution

This Toyota Prado bike rack was configured for fat bikes, using an Extreme Duty mid beam carrier manufactured by iSi and installed on a Prado 150 Series through a tow bar mount system. Like every iSi system it bolts on completely, with nothing drilled or welded to the vehicle.

Fat bike tyres defeat most carriers, but the iSi cradles take tyres up to 5.1 inches wide as standard, no adaptors required. The mid beam gives the two cradles enough spacing for wide bars and big rubber, while keeping the load low and centred over the tow bar so the Prado’s road manners stay intact. The carrier pivots down with both bikes loaded whenever the rear door needs to swing open. The rest of the range is covered on our Prado bike racks page.

Capacity and fit

Each cradle is rated to 32kg with room for a 1600mm wheelbase, which covers fat bikes, e-bikes and long travel mountain bikes alike. The complete carrier lifts off the mount when it is not in use, leaving just the low profile mount on the tow bar. The rest of the lineup is covered on our vehicle bike racks page.

iSi has manufactured these systems in Mitcham, Victoria since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and backs every one with a lifetime warranty. The pre-configured vehicle carriers include Prado-ready systems, and the sales team can configure this exact fat bike system for your own vehicle.
