Jayco Swan

Four Bike Rack Assembly with Two to Four Expansion Pack, Jayco Cross Mount and Mercedes Tow Bar Mount

The Solution

This Mercedes ML250 bike rack is an Extreme Duty carrier configured with a two to four Expansion Pack, manufactured for Paul to serve two vehicles: a Jayco Cross Mount carries it on the front of his Jayco Swan camper trailer, and a tow bar mount takes it on the ML250 when the camper stays in the shed.

The Expansion Pack is the clever part of this configuration. The carrier runs as a two bike system for everyday trips, then accepts two additional cradles when the whole family rides, up to a four bike capacity rated at 32kg per bike with an 84kg total load. On the Swan the cross mount holds the bikes high on the camper front, keeping the drawbar clear and the weight where a camper trailer tows it best, roughly 70% on the tow ball and 30% on the axle, and the carrier tilts with the bikes still loaded so the wind up roof and bed ends stay usable at overnight stops. If you tow a different model, the Jayco bike rack range covers the rest of the lineup.

Moving the system between the Swan and the Mercedes takes minutes, which is exactly why we manufacture the mounts separately from the carrier. One beam, two mounts, no compromises on either vehicle. Our caravan bike racks page covers the drawbar and cross mount options, and the pre-configured vehicle carriers cover the tow bar side.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in a textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
