Jayco Journey DX

This Jayco Journey DX bike rack is a Compact Two Bike Rack Assembly with a 40 degree high departure geometry, mounted on an H-Mount bolt on drawbar mount with a Support Post. Phil fitted it behind the van’s centrally mounted jockey wheel, and the system dropped in perfectly with no modifications to the drawbar.

A central jockey wheel is the detail that catches many carriers out, sitting right where a mount wants to go. iSi’s modular components solved it cleanly: the H-Mount located the carrier behind the wheel, and Phil positioned the weight further back toward the trailer to enhance towing stability and articulation, keeping the load balanced roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle. Pivoting the carrier forward gives easy access to the Journey DX’s front boot.

The compact 40 degree geometry keeps the bikes tight and the departure angle clear, and each bike rides in its own frame held cradle at up to 32kg, with the assembly rated to 64kg total. It is a considered, no compromise fit on a popular touring van.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
