Paramount Xtenda

This Paramount Xtenda bike rack is a second generation iSi installation. Troy and Eloise ran their Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly on a Jayco Swan Outback for years, then upgraded to the Paramount Xtenda towed by their Prado 150, and the iSi Refresh program handled the changeover: the carrier stayed, a few mount parts swapped, and the system bolted to the new van’s drawbar.

That is the argument for buying steel once. The bolt on drawbar H-Mount and support post are dimensioned to the Xtenda’s chassis, holding the 800mm beam with the load split roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle for stable towing on rough tracks. The carrier pivots up with all four bikes loaded, keeping the front of the van reachable at camp, and the PBC-H vehicle mount system puts the same carrier on the Prado between trips. Paramount build their vans tough in Melbourne’s east, a few suburbs from where we build the racks, and the Xtenda’s drawbar took the H-Mount cleanly. The Four Bike Carrier is rated to 84kg and holds each bike by the frame at up to 32kg. For other models in the range, see our Prado bike rack page.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty that carries across van upgrades through the Refresh program.
