Jayco Starcraft

Four Bike Rack Assembly, Starcraft Outback Drawbar and Prado Tow Bar Mount

“Extremely happy with the product and your sales support was excellent.”

Shayne

The Solution

This Jayco Starcraft bike rack is an Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly, manufactured for Shayne’s Starcraft Outback pop top and his Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Four bikes ride on the front of the van when the family tours, and the same carrier shifts to the Prado’s tow bar for trips without it.

Shayne’s drawbar was already fully employed before the bikes arrived: twin checker plate toolboxes and two gas bottles occupy every millimetre of it. The carrier is configured to work above that real estate, holding the bikes against the Starcraft’s front face without stealing space from the storage underneath, and the whole assembly pivots with the bikes loaded so the pop top still lifts at camp. Weight distribution stays where a van wants it, roughly 70% on the ball and 30% on the axle. Every Jayco we have installed is listed on the Jayco bike rack page.

The 800mm beam Four Bike Carrier is rated to 84kg and carries up to 32kg per bike, four adult mountain bikes without a squeeze. Shayne runs the adventure account #Driven2Explore, so this system will earn its keep in front of a camera as well as behind a Prado. The rest of the range is covered on our Prado bike racks page.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in a textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty. The Starcraft joins the rest of the range on our caravan bike racks page, and the Prado mount comes from the pre-configured vehicle carriers.

To put a system together for your own van, start with the Jayco bike rack configurator and select the model, the number of bikes and the mount system.
