Jayco Journey

This Jayco Journey bike rack is a full drawbar system: an Extreme Duty Four Bike Rack Assembly on a pivot base, carried by an Adjustable H-Mount bolted to the Journey’s drawbar with a support post underneath, and a matching tow bar mount for Steve’s Toyota Prado 150. Four bikes on the pop top, no welding required.

Steve approached the configuration the way we encourage every van owner to: as a weight distribution exercise. With four bikes adding load ahead of the axle, he relocated the van’s spare wheel to the rear bar to offset it, and his two word towing report, tows great, is what a properly balanced van sounds like. The drawbar position keeps the carrier’s load split roughly 70% to the tow ball and 30% to the axle, and the support post spreads it into the chassis rather than the drawbar alone. The same system is manufactured for other models across our Jayco bike racks range.

The pivot base means all four bikes swing clear for access at camp without unloading, and the Adjustable H-Mount fits the Journey’s drawbar as delivered, adjustable rather than welded, so it moves with the van if the van is ever sold. The 800mm beam Four Bike Carrier is rated to 84kg and carries up to 32kg per bike. Other Prado owners can start with the full Prado bike rack range.

Every system is manufactured in Mitcham, Victoria, as they have been since 2007, from Australian mild steel and stainless steel, zinc primed and finished in textured Dulux powder coat, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
